How to set a boxing round timer

Start with the session you or your coach have planned. Boxing Timer handles the clock; the exercise selection and intensity remain yours.

Updated October 30, 2026

Set up a session in four steps

  1. Choose your rounds

Set how many work rounds you want to complete, then choose the work duration and rest duration.

  2. Give yourself preparation time

Set a countdown that lets you put on your gloves and take your position. Preparation does not reduce the planned work time.

  3. Choose your controls

Use the free on-screen buttons, or enable an available Pro control. Test glove tap, Siri or headphone recognition before starting.

  4. Keep the app on screen

Start any music first and return to Boxing Timer. Start the session on screen; if you need a break, pause and later resume the same remaining time.

Example round settings

These are editable clock examples, not training prescriptions or official competition settings. Follow your coach and change them for your own session.

What happens when you pause?

The round stays yours

The current phase, round number and remaining time are retained. Continuing does not restart the round from the beginning.

Time to get ready again

If a preparation countdown is enabled before continuing, it gives you time to reset before the saved work or rest countdown resumes.

Foreground timing

Locking the device or moving the app to the background pauses the session and saves progress. Keep the app in the foreground while training.

Make cues easy to hear

  • Play music before you start, then return to the training app.
  • Check the device volume, audio route and spoken cues before putting on gloves.
  • Use the on-screen controls to start, end or reset the session. Pro controls pause and resume.
  • For control setup and purchase restoration, see the support guide.
